September 2020

Sacha Fenestraz made history in Super Formula and Super GT during his first four races of the 2020 season, putting himself among names like Michael Schumacher and Andre Lotterer.

After being crowned Japanese Formula 3 Champion last year, he’s been able to continue this form into 2020 by achieving podium finishes in all four races he’s started. This includes the opening Super Formula race as well as his first three races in the premier GT500 Super GT class.

Last weekend Sacha became just the eighth driver in the last 30 years to get a podium finish on his debut in Super Formula. Only the likes of Michael and Ralf Schumacher in the 1990s, Andre Lotterer in 2003, Kazuki Nakajima in 2011 and Stoffel Vandoorne in 2016 have achieved this along with two other drivers.

Meanwhile in Super GT, Sacha became the first driver in history to finish on the podium in the first three races of his debut top class season.

Meanwhile in Super GT, Sacha became the first driver in history to finish on the podium in the first three races of his debut top class season.

He currently leads the GT500 championship with his team-mate Yuhi Sekiguchi by eight points after three rounds. In the championship he finished in second place in the first two races at Fuji International Raceway, and then in third place at round three at Suzuka.

Sacha was impressed about being on the same list as Michael Schumacher and other great drivers over the last 30 years.

“I was pleased when I was told after my first Super Formula weekend that I was part of a list that included Michael Schumacher, Andre Lotterer and many other great drivers.
We all want to keep this momentum going and we'll keep working hard to end the season on a high in both championships.”

Sacha will do his absolutely best to continue his podium success this weekend, during the fourth Super GT round being held at Twin Ring Motegi. Although it will be even tougher than the previous rounds with the BoP and ballast hampering his car.

Currently he leads the GT500 championship with team-mate Yuhi Sekiguchi by eight points after three rounds. Sacha is also third in the Super Formula championship after the opening round with the next race at the end of September at Okayama Circuit.
